What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutrition and lifestyle are integral parts of connecting all the pieces of you – body, mind and spirit. Food was naturally designed to help our bodies survive internal and external factors. Yet the things we consume in today’s society are not only harming us, but slowly killing us. (Fuhrman, 2018)

Nutritional therapy puts a food-first spin on alleviating problems associated with today’s ultra-processed, digitally consumed, highly stressed society, so we can give our body what it needs to support lingering and chronic symptoms.

What is our best resource for restoring our bodies?

Nutrient-dense, nourishing whole foods.

With the right tools in place to support a nourishing lifestyle, you’ll feel better and live a longer and more fulfilled life.

Think of your body like a car. You maintain your car, so it performs its best. You wash it, fill it with fuel, get regular oil changes, and spruce up the parts.

Your body is the same! It’s constantly working to stay balanced – the place where you can thrive and feel great. You don’t always feel this balancing act, but you get signs; you shiver in cold, sweat in heat, and breathe heavier during activity. That’s your body returning to a place of comfort and safety.

Fueling our bodies with proper nutrients keeps it running smoothly.

There are so many diets out there. What works?

It depends.

There’s really no one way of eating to suit EVERYONE. What you should eat, how much of it, and how often depends on you and your body.

Foods can be prepared in ways to help optimize and absorb nutrients. (Nutritional Therapy Association, 2021) And the more variety of animal and plant foods you eat, the more benefits you get.

This is what we’re after:

  • Properly Prepared, Nutrient-Dense Foods

  • Good Digestion & Mineral Absorption

  • Blood Sugar Regulation & Sustaining Energy

  • Essential Hydration & Supportive Balance of Macro and Micronutrients

How do I know what to eat?

Let’s look at your bio-individual needs and work to get you feeling your best!

We’ll look at what you eat now, your movement, stress, sleep, poop (yes, we love talking about poop!) and any symptoms you’re feeling. We’ll discuss your concerns, goals, obstacles and how we can guide you to the finish line one simple step at a time.

What are the steps?

Again, it depends.

Where are you on your journey? How much support do you need? Do you have the right tools in place?  We’ll fine tune as we go, looking at everything from the food in your pantry and how you prep meals to the cookware you use. And we’ll likely add a few lifestyle tips and tricks, like self-care promoting activity and ways to support movement.

The ultimate question… Do you want to be a victim in your body?

Or do you want to be a partner with it?

Let’s work together to remove your stressors, build up your defenses, and get you eating for a lifetime.
